Why the ARC was invented.
I invented the ARC survival craft in 1998 and Patent searches revealed that it is the only one of it's design in the world.
The ARC was never intended to replace life rafts and rescue boats; although there is some overlap in functionality. The ARC is somewhat of a platypus though, as it is all of these things combined and so much more.
The ARC was originally invented as a family survival POD. To provide a place for the family to meet, no matter what the emergency. (Excluding fire or a nuclear event; God forbid). As the design and engineering of the ARC evolved it became obvious that there wasn't much the ARC wouldn't be able to handle, including low flying airplane drops, submersible capabilities and surviving 20 meter high breaking waves.
Its extremely rugged high density, seamless polyethylene, custom molded exterior allows this practical yet attractive looking vessel with its unique, almost geodesic, geometric design to withstand extreme weather conditions and marine disasters.
With its low center of gravity, created by storing sufficient quantities of fresh drinking water and other ballast materials in the bilge area , this self-righting and auto-surfacing, extremely buoyant vessel can withstand, torrents of fast moving water, mud slides, rapid ocean flooding and even large breaking waves caused by Tsunami.
The ARC’s ability to survive extreme weather conditions and go safely under-water is what makes it truly unique and separates it from all inflatable life rafts and rescue boats. It's huge tidal wave, tsunami survival capability earns the ARC a classification all of it’s own.
IT can also be buried below ground and used as a Tornado shelter, dropped from large rescue aircraft and recovered from the ocean and even transported via helicopter to remote mountain top locations to provide transportable emergency rescue shelters or lodging for cell-site technicians etc.
The ARC can be equiped many different ways. It can be loaded with substantial quantities of survival & emergency provisions for those who want to use it for survival in case of a natural disaster. If this disaster was large enough, we would all be pretty much on our own. It accommodates and secures 4 people with relative comfort for whatever time necessary, providing it has been sufficiently supplied. The ARC Survival Pod has a diameter of 10' so it can easily be stored in a back yard or anywhere else for that matter.
Being equipped with an emergency locator-beacon and strobe light, assures quick location and rescue.
This unit can be transported and rescued easily once located by a Helicopter, boat, rescue truck, etc. The ARC comes with its own self-contained, solar generating, electrical system. A few of the on board electrical components include: Interior lighting, high visibility emergency locating strobe light beacon, gps, cb and vhf radios and hand-crank am/fm radio with lights. These units also come fully equipped with an emergency locator signal transmitter operating on internationally recognized rescue frequencies.
